Mine does the exact same thing. It also sits that way until I remove the cap no matter how many days it sits without being run. Dont know if that's good or bad...

Probably a faulty temp sensor.

I guess I should've worded that better...it will get over 190*....but settles at 188-190* in most cases...even in temps 100* or so

My coolant stays at the min. mark when its cold and when at full operating temp. This is the first of heard of the coolant not being in the degass bottle when warm.. hmmm

My coolant level does this too but I think I might have bad head gaskets. Does your truck puke coolant?

Well if your not losing coolant I wouldn't worry too much about it. So as long as when you take the cap off the level always returns to the min mark your probably ok.

mine is the opposite. i have mine filled to the line on the degas when cold. when i drive and get up to temp it is above the line, when it sits overnight it settles back down to the line. i push no coolant out of the bottle nor do i lose any.
i thought when the engine got warm the coolant expanded and went up in the degas not down. maybe something is wrong with mine?

Your cap may not be holding pressure.

Yours is normal.

The liquid expands as it heats up.

Air pockets (or gas pockets - which is not normal) can cause erratic and sometimes opposite behaviour w/ the levels.

So you're saying my situation of having lower coolant when warm vs cold is not normal?
