Hi everbody new to posting here but not new to the site. Been here awhile
and i've really learned alot so far.I was new to diesels about 5 months
ago and i really needed to learn alot fast. see i bought one of the bad ones
I had about 7000 thousand in the motor the first month. Bad injecters
bad head gaskets. I went ahead and had them stud it and deleat the egr
system and put in a new oil cooler .Runs really good now.
I do have a question. I just put on a sinister coolant filter about 500 miles ago
so today i changed the filter, their was nothing in it. No sand or dirt or anything just coolant, is this tipical or is something else wrong now.

i saw the same thing in mine at a thousand miles it was clean.

I went 4,000 miles on my first, found some sand.
2nd 7,000miles, found less sand.
And now I am 10,000 miles on the 3rd coolant filter. I will change it when it gets to 15,000miles and see how much build up it has in there.

Your cutting it in half and finding nothing? i would run it a little longer and see if you find anything. Sounds like good news to me. Sounds like when you had all the work done they did a great job flushing the system.

Being new to the world of the 6.0 you need to get some gauges to check the difference in EOT-ECT this is important max spread 15* and after you see what you have i would do a coolant flush to remove the Ford Gold coolant if that is what you have in it and install some ELC Cat EC1 Rated 1 coolant, and check your fuel pressure if you what to keep the injectors you have under 45lbs at WOT will kill them, keep good batteries in it, weak or bad ones will kill the FICM:doh:

Hopefully it'll give 200,000 trouble free miles now.
