Yesturday I installed a IPR Coolant filter inline with my heater core and coolant outlet. Now today when i turned on the heat it blows nothing but cold air. I did drain and reuse 2 gallons of coolant so maybe air in the system? Coolant is flowing through filter and in/out get hot and are same temp. Grey vacuum line is hooked up also.

any advice?

Thanks,
Todd

Is this the first time you tried using heat, prior to installing the IPR filter? Might be a clogged heater core.

The only thing that makes sense to me is air in the system.. I have a tool called a coolant lift, which you hook up to air compressor for tools, and pulls the system into a vacuum, and then it pulls the coolant up out of a bucket. It works great when working on semi trucks, because you don't have to worry about any spills. I use it at least once a week. If you know any mechanics, they might have one.

you need to check to make sure that you have the coolant flowing into the corect port on the filter block. when i installed mine i spaced out and hooked them up backwards and no heat. the inlet side of the filter houseing needs to be hooked to the meatle pipe comeing off the water pump houseing and the outlet gets connected to the plastic heater control valve @ the heater core. if these are backwards there will be no coolant flow through the filter and thus no heat.

Did you plumb it in right? If you are running your heater hose thru it only, you would have the problem you are describing. It is to be "teed" into the system as a bypass and not meant to be a "flow thru" filter.

Thanks guys , sry for taking so long to get back on I was helping someone move.

@ Lilpooh, Heat was used all last week here in the morning to de-fog the windows.

@ DR99, Thats what I was thinking also...I'll ask around

@ JPStactical, Its in there exactly how you described...

@ Lenzhotrod, The "T"'s in the kit are optional, Some ppl use them, some dont.

Turn your heater off and on and see if your valve is moving open and closed. Your vac line may be clogged.

Sent from my phone that somebody didn't help me get.

I'm going to try that today. I've only driven the truck 50 km at most since install. Today when I jumped in i still had the heat on blast and hot air was blowing untill i started the truck.:dunno:

That valve does not move with heater activation / it closes coolant flow to the heater core when max ac is selected

it may be stuck shut see if it moves position when max ac is selected?

I can tell you that it looks like it is installed corectly. Looks just like mine does. I would guess that the filter is cloged. Mine was cloged with a fine rust with in 500 miles. That would be the next step i would be takeing if i was in your shoes.
