Thanks for all the help and responses in the last couple weeks. had a lot to fix on this truck. I have been searching for this clunk, recently changed out the dana 80 rear diff, it needed it. But the clunk is still there. Tonight i got under it while my wife did the reverse then drive thing. It really sounded as to come from the transfer case or tail shaft area. I had my head under it.(thank god my wife held the brake, she had her chance to kill me) I went to the diff at the back then the tranny area. It really sounded as if it came from the tail housing.
My question is, Is there I way I can prove its the transfer case? Dont really want to spend more cash, i recently have fixed a lot. Hate to pull it out etc and have it not be the culprit. It makes no clunk from nuetral to drive, Just when i have the whole driveline change rotating directions. Recently when installing the new rear(used, but new to me) I di not have the proper yoke installed yet so i drove it, to turn it around in the driveway, by using the
4wd. No rear shaft installed just using the 2 front wheels. It clunked bad going to reverse at this time. Going to drive was quiet but reverse bad. NO shaft to the rear so diff could not of caused it in this case
Please shoot me some thoughts. All i care about on the transfer case, is that its quiet and no clunks when in 2wd. I barely use the 4wd, so i am fine with it the way it is as far as 4wd is concerned

Some times you just have to drive it till whatever is wrong brakes. Then you know what was causing it and can fix it.
