My brother just informed me that we did just use for scan. And had it all (intake housing and air filter) out when I replaced #4 injector. But I’ll pull it all back out tomorrow to be extra double sure. I’ll do anything at this point.

I ordered a new turbo Monday night. Im pretty positive it’s blown. But not 100 percent it will fix all my smoke issues. I probably should have ordered a glow plug harness so I could do a compression check. I hear they tend to fall apart when taking them off.

Inside is bone dry. Where the turbo and down pipe mate there is some oil. Up pipe is all dry including where it mates up with the turbo. I didn’t use any oil to loosen v bands. Has Anyone else ever seen this with a bad turbo before? I’m kinda 4th guessing myself on buy a turbo. Thanks!

My guess is that the turbo seal was barely leaking under idle. Once a load was put on it would let the oil by and hit the hot exhaust resulting in a puff of white smoke. I have no clue why it would just come in short puffs. I’ve been chasing this for about a year so I’m a little hesitant to say I figured it out. But I’ve driven about 20 miles and there is zero white smoke. I’m thinking it was a combo of one bad injector and a half blown turbo bearing housing. If that makes any sense. Sorry I’m no guru. Just someone not willing to spend 1000s in labor on old vehicles. I’ll report back if it goes bad or in a couple hundred miles. Which ever comes first.
