Hey all.

I have a 2005 Crew cab and just got a new Cobra 29 LTD Classic CB. I am not sure of the best place to mount the antenna that looks good, with no cabels hanging out the window or door. If anyone has ideas or pictures of thier set up I would love to see them.

Thanks for the help

I have seen some slick setups using a mag mount Wilson 5k and running the coax through the 3rd brake light. Apparently they cut just enough off the outer edge of the lens and ran the coax though and silicone sealed.

I have a 5' FireStik mounted in the front left bed stake pocket. No cable is visible at all. Can get a pic for you tomorrow if you want.

The mount used is from Firestik (SS-294A), with the cable coming out of the cab and up between the inner and outer bed side.

Small hole under the door sill plate, with a grommet and sealant.

This is the 94-97 forum. You will certainly get help here, but for your cab config, you might want to try the 6.0l forum. Just an idea to help...

That is exactly how I ran my roof mount cable on my 97. It looked great.

I made a quick holder for it.

That looks pretty good...

now this is a quick holder for it...

Man I need to get some cleaner pics. lol That thing was a pig sty when I took it.

I like the bed stake mount but I cant do that since I pull a 5th wheel. I like the idea of a fiberglass stick.

Nice CB mount SOUTHPAW and nice Harley CB. Looks good

Nice,
Make sure you have a good braided copper ground going to the frame since there is no direct grounding to the truck body.. BTW, like you screen name "Pukeballs"...

Yeah, just crawled under the truck a few minutes ago and found a good spot on the frame next to where the cable will drop down between the bed and cab. Thanks dude.

Has anyone ever seen a CB antenna mount similar to the one on the red dodge in the movie Twister (1996)? Its on the drivers side, right at the back, close to the tail light. it looks like there are two antenna's on it. I really like that idea, but I have never seen any place that sells a mount like that.

Another option could be to have a fender mount antenna. Like you see with two way radios for fire/ems or construction companies etc. With that you would be routing wire out thru your fire wall . I Have seen this done before but not up close(with cb that is ) My fire radio antenna mount is just a simple L that is screwed with self tapping screws to the inside edge of fender between the hood

Can be a nice clean look if you line it up and keep it at the same angle as your fm antenna on the opposite side

Good Luck

i put a cb in my truck a while back, and you can hear the engine through the speaker.-bad ground?
More grounds always help. It may not solve the problem, but it should help isolate the noicse. The only other way is to put a capacitor on the alternator. Not worth doing IMO
