i have an e99 f350 (automatic trans). i am putting in a new set of stage 2 injectors so i planned on doin a little tranny work as to not blow it up. when i bought the truck the guy said he got the tranny rebuilt on it before. i didnt really think at the time to ask if he did anything special when he had it rebuilt. so now im wondering if its a stock rebuild or if some stuff is upgraded. i would just hate to get a new vb or tc if it already has good **** in it. the main thing that makes me question that he may have put some decent parts in it is because he had a light plug in the inside of the box like it was set up for a goose neck at some point.
any help is appreciated.... thanks in advance.

Chances are if he had any work done to it, he would've thrown that out as an extra selling point :thumb:

^Agreed. I went with a beefed up tranny after my Stage II's and now three tranny's later I should have put out for the built ones from one of the BIG three.

You kept blowing OEM e4od trannies that were built? Which kind did you go with now?

The last two were free. Covered under the warranty of the rebuild, even the removal and install and new TC's. If he is going to keep giving me free ones I'm ging to keep taking them.

The builder builds trannys for drag cars and trucks and not so much long haul towing. Throwing my power at a built tranny while towing 13k pounds over the Grapevine (I-5 north out of Los Angeles, 40 miles at 5% (average) with a 2 mile 6% down grade on the other side. Reverse coming home) is only second to crossing the Rockies in a parts braking hill in the United States. This hill claims 3 (average) simi's a day and at least one of those trucks a day catches fire due to the heat made to climb this hill. I love parking on the shoulder on moonless nights with my camera and taking pictures of the truck convoys all with their exhaust pipes GLOWING near white just to crest the next grade. Los Angeles is in a bowl. Unless your going south to San Diego you have to climb out the hard way.

I know the Grapevine better than most. I'm from bakersfield. My old 1990 460 used to battle that b***h all the time. Only took out one of my E4ODs, though. :hehe:

You are coming from the hard side to. Props on your self control and for not racing Chevy's over the hill when you have a 3 horse with living quarter and all they have is a little power boat. I'll fully admit that I am probably 90% the reason my tranny's don't last. I just can't help it. :D

:hehe: Yeah, that 460 would get up and move no matter what I put behind it. It was a bit difficult to stay out of it sometimes, especially when I pulled the muffler and put a thrush glasspack in. I loved the way that truck sounded.

As for bakersfield, I moved out of that hell-hole and up to Northern California a few years ago. Bakersfield is a better place to be from than at.
