my turbo went out of my 01 psd and the junk yard said they have one without a exhaust valve and my truck has a exhaust valve, what is the difference in the two? if its just the exhaust housing can i switch the housings from my turbo? what would happen if i just use the non valve turbo?

Yes you can use one without the exhaust valve. Its just a housing swap that takes no time!

Nothing really. I unhooked and loctite'd mine, and alot of people gut theirs. It's just a warm up valve for cold weather. It doesn't really serve an important purpose. And to swap those housings... believe me, penetrating oil will be your friend.

i wanted to keep it on because we have cold winters in michigan and it is a plow truck so it needs all the help it can get warming up, even with the valve it still takes a half hour in the winter to warm up.

Well like i said it is very easy to just swap the housings. Will take every bit of 15 minutes!
