Company truck is a 06 F550 with a 4.88 rear end. I am getting around 8mpg at the moment, wondering if there are any cheap mods out there to be done. Someone told me to remove the "power scrubber"/ catalytic converter I guess.
not too cheap but a definate fix without having to change gears would be a gear vendors o/d . It would pay for itself in a year and no ill effects on towing ability. You never mentioned if you are towing and if your towing loads close to gvrw with that mpg.
Truck weighs 10K and I regularly haul 8K on the bed. I normally haul two batteries for electric lift trucks that can weigh upto 4K each. I average around 8 mpg empty.
