Recently noticed a boost leak but I can't find the problem. I've already replaced the hot side turbo boot and intake boot within the past 3 months. Today I replaced the hot and cold intercooler boots.

The hot side intercooler boot just had oil inside whereas the cold side had moisture and looked milky. Any clues with that?

Also, the noise started after I straight-piped the truck. Just took the muffler out without loosening any of the rest of the exhaust. Cranked down on the downpipe trying to make room for it but I can't see how that would make a boost leak.

This isn't my video but this sounds exactly like it.

Thanks for the reply. Just looked and I don't see any soot anywhere on the firewall. I bet you're right about the flex pipe but don't really know how to go from here.

Any way I can tell which one it is or another way to check them? Too much money and trouble to just buy both and throw them in right now

You really need a monitor......http://www.powerstroke.org/forum/showthread.php?t=259257

You could watch your boost numbers, some guys have been able to watch for smoke by carefully power braking. I'm not suggesting you do that.

Well I might not have the best monitor but I do have the Torque app with a odb2 bluetooth module. Also have the Sct SF3 to check a few values too. I'm running Matt's SRLXX Extreme and when I watch the boost it doesn't really drop but it makes the noise over 1/4 throttle when letting off or when the transmission shifts. Boost stays pretty steady without dropping and I've watched it go over 28 psi without flooring it. Can't hammer it cause I won't keep any sort of traction if I do. Matt's tune does it more than any others but it also has the boost higher just driving around.

I'd try power braking but I'd probably blow the converter or run my roommate over

Think I can see where the passenger side up-pipe has broken but I'm not positive either. Wish I could just tighten the damn thing up. Any tips on taking this thing out?

I've read take out the fender liner and you can do it without taking the turbo out?
