okay so i know theres always the heated discussions on which tires willl last longer but still perform..... im ridin in a 200 f-250 super cab long bed 7.3 got a bit of weight comin in right around 8000 pounds. which really kinda wears on the tires when im rollin at least 300 miles a week. ive tried 235 dunlops and they were terrible. then went to 285/75/16 bfg all terrains, only got about 23000 24000 miles out of them... currently on firestone destination m/ts that are the same size 285. know ive seen the nitto stuff and definately not impressed.... has anyone tried some tires that can take the weight, and the over the road mileage but still do halfway decent for some off road stuff?

Welcome to the org. I'm wondering the same thing as I will need tires in the near future. I guess I'll be watching...

I had Terra Grapplers for a week and HATED them. I haul 11k on a regular basis (skid loader) and even at high PSI I would still get horrible wobble. The sidewalls felt weak and I didn't trust them for very long. I switched to Bridgestone A/T Revo II's and I love them. Have about 2k on them and it was one of the better decisions I made. Handle a loaded and unloaded truck very well

Michelin AT2's are suitable for MILD offroad use but are wearing very well under a friends 07 350. He got around 60k from his and his truck is a crew cab short box with atleast 1500lbs in the bed between the cap and tools 24/7, so its a pretty heavy truck. Also tows a 36ft fishing boat with it and never has issues with sway with them.

Im surprised your BFG's wore so poorly, i got 75k out of them on my Dodge, still not to the wear bars, i have a trailer hooked to my truck 5 days a week...They are very picky to pressure and if its wrong they wear poorly and by the time you figure it out they can already be too far gone...

my Michelin LTX AT2's sucked. I have the Goodyear Duratrac now and they seem to be doing pretty well.

Funny, just cant win with tires. Guy here with a tacoma chewed right through his duratracs in 40k miles...Which is a tire i really wanted to run, and still may. These AT/S's i have now SUCK! They wont even make 25k miles, definitely need new shoes before the snow shows up.

Welcome to the Org. Give bridgestone Duellers revo 2's a shot. awsome tires that wear great and can handle heavy loads. :twocents:

Like Jason, I'm shocked the BFG's wore the way they did. I have them on my Jeep, second set, the first gave me almost 70k as well.

I'm running Toyo AT's on my truck and have been very happy with the life to date.

I've only had one new set of tires on my truck (and still running on 'em). Got the Nitto Terra Grapplers. I've been happy with them and think I'll get another set when these wear out. Lost track of miles but I know I have around 60,000 miles on these. They start out with a pretty deep tread, which is why I think we feel that wobble. Give 'em a while to wear in and they stabilize. They wore quick when hauling (expected that), but snow NEVER caused me any issues (never truly took it off-road).

Went over-sized too. 295/70R17 (33x12)

I've always had A/T type tire but am not missing them now that I have my Michelin LTX ms2's in 285/75/16. They wear like iron and are great in the snow. Plus they make no noise and ride great.

I have a 2wd 7.3 king-cab long bed. I like a quiet highway ride, but a strong sidewall, and wet pavement safety. I do pull a 3 horse slant trailer every weekend with one 1000# horse.
Do you guys have any thoughts on the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor pro 'E' rated tires?

The Goodyear Silent Armor has worked great for me. I roll a 00 Excursion and it rides smooth. They are E rated so they can handle a ton of weight. The road noise isn't too bad they get quieter as the tread gets broken in. I blew out two of them 4 wheeling but it was my fault as I didnt lower the psi when I went 4 wheeling. That was a $500 mistake that wont happen again. The Wranglers get my vote.

AT tires-toss up between the toyo and procomp x-at. my dads f350 is at 32k on the toyos and on the X hes at 41k on the pro comps. from their house to pavement is 5 miles. they see snow from oct to april. they both did well.

I had them previously on my F150. I absolutely loved those tires on that truck in ALL driving. They were best for me in snow. Not sure if they would work the same on my F250 so I didnt get them.

just based on mike's(the pig) experience I think the next set I buy new will be BFG KM2s. I wasn't a big fan of mt michelin ltx at2 but they weren't bad on my 150

Also surprised on the wear of the bfgs my mt's on my half ton that lasted 60k also toyo mt's have lasted 55-60k on various trucks of family and friends

No exp. with BFG's, but I loved my Toyo's! Will DEF buy again.:thumb:
