Best drop in turbo for 2013 F250

593 Views 21 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  dhanna6powerstroke
I have a 2013 F250 with a 6.7 Powerstroke. The def deleted a straight pipe has been added and I'm running an H&S Minimax that puts out an extra 150 on Extreme setting. My stock turbo has failed and I'm looking to find out what the best drop in replacement turbo would be for this setup. I will be adding a disaster prevention kit to the fuel system.

Check out KC turbos.

How much do you have to part with? $$

I love spending other people's money!

Trying to save as much as possible. Im not looking to do any additional tuning to say. Looking to stay under 2500.00
How many miles are on the truck? There are really no options for a drop in turbo on the 11-14 unless you buy another oem SST turbo. Depending on budget I’d do a retrofit kit for a 15 and up turbo. You could do an oem 15+ turbo which is more reliable and more powerful then the 11-14s. I’d assume you would want to stay with a vgt turbo. Companies like SPE, KC, MPD and a few others all make great products. I’m pretty sure you would also need a 2015+ cp4.2, dual fuelers, or a stroker CP4. I was just in your boat and decided to go KC with a stroker CP4 on my 2011. KC Turbo and 10mm CP4 overview on 6.7
155k. Will i need to upgrade the fuel systems if I upgrade to the 2015 vgt?
In order to see a decent hp increase you would need more fuel. The stock pump is pretty much maxed out on a 150 tune. Here’s an old forum of when KC was doing the testing. They have dyno numbers of stock fuel with 2015 turbo and with a 2015 pump.

Thank you. I am waiting for the link.
My bad I thought I sent it
The turbo on my 2011 has 181,000 on it and honestly I’m waiting for it to go any day now. I’m looking at KC but between the turbo package and new tuner, it’s nearly $6000. Not sure I’m ready to spend that on a 13 year old truck (bought it in 2010). So I’m keeping my eye on the market for a newer truck.

Am I correct in assuming that if one were to go from a '11-'14 turbo to a '15 that your tune would need to be updated?

Will the HS Mini Max work?
Will the HS Mini Max work?
Nope. You’ll need an EZ Lync.
Nope. You’ll need an EZ Lync.
Please, explain why that is the case?
If I remember correctly, the MiniMaxx does not have the capability to alter waste gate functionality (turning the CEL off when the ECU does not see the solenoid), and cannot not provide the same fueling parameters. Most tuners will tell you to stay away from the MiniMaxx unless you’re using it for simply deleting the EGR and DPF. EZ Lync is the way to go but you’re going to pay $1200+.
Yeah that’s correct my ez link auto agent 3 and tuning was 1250. Ez link is the only way to go.

I have the turbo out of my 14 that had around 55k on it when removed. Nothing wrong with it if anyone is interested. $500 for everything if picked up. Will ship at buyers expense.

That is a kind offer. Do you have the part number on it and where would it be shipping from?
