I have a 97 powerstroke and just put two new red optimas in it. Both connections are good but the battery light flickers. What could be the problem?

Okay now the light flickers. And then it stays on when I am using the headlights or ac. It goes off when I rev the truck up. I will be going to get the alternator checked today

It just had me thinking because I never saw that light even with two very weak batterys. I put the new ones in and two days later I got the light.

Alternator. That light is designed to come on when the alternator isn't putting out enough juice.

You might want to check the lone wire that plugs into the top of the alternator for a good connection. The heater hose that crosses over can play havoc with this connector.I think I would do this before condemning an alternator.
