Has anyone had any problems with automatic hubs sticking? Mine will engage when you go to 4wd, but tend to stick and stay engaged when you go back to 2wd. I need to lock hubs manually and then turn them back to automatic to get them back out. Kind of defeats the automatic feature.

It's possible the internals are gummed up. Otherwise check the hub holds a vacuum, and the lines to the hubs are good to go.

Once you shift to 2wd do you drive rearwards any at all?? I have found a good habit of shifting out of 4wd to 2wd, then drive in Reverse for at least 10 yards. This allows the hub/gears to be relieved of any strain and spring back unlocking the hubs.

I replaced a set when I had issues on my old 2006 truck as you describe. When I removed the one with the issue it was too far gone. It was easier to just swap in a new set and be happy with no issues.
