Gents,
My father-in-law has a 1987 F250 with the 6.9L. This truck is still running strong but he's having some trans issues. The original transmission went out and he had one from an F350 ambulance put in it. It shifts strong but winds the engine up to 2800-3000RPM before shifting. I'm sure this was for the added weight of the ambulance but is there a simple way to change something internally to correct for this application? Also, did Ford offer a trans with an overdrive for this model truck?
