I posted this in another part of the forum but didn't get a response. On my way home the other day I noticed my brake on the driver side was hot. I let it cool and when I got home and backed the trailer in it changed a lot and the front end got real tight. By the time I got it to the front of my shop the wheel locked up. When I pulled the tire and brake/mounting bracket the hub, rotor and front half of the bearing fell out. That left the back half and stub shaft intact.

Never seen that before, no warning until the brake got hot. Then some vibes on the trip home.

The truck was involved in a t bone collision where that wheel took enough impact to break the upper ball joint. But the ins company refused to replace the bearing. When they replaced the ball joints they said they had to put an offset one in to get it aligned. I am guessing the bearing was messed up too causing the alignment troubles.

Now that it is back together I think it is out of alignment because it pulls a touch to the right and handles odd. I replaced the bearing, bracket, rotor, pads and driveshaft seal.

Any of this sound odd?

Don't know what kind of recourse you have with your ins co. but you will need a regular ball joint to get it back in alignment. The odd part is the use of an offset ball joint to remedy an actual problem that could have caused a fatality. That's how I would word it to my Ins Co.

I had a rear axle impact ,, they fixed the body damage and frame ,, took a month

so I had it two weeks and heard a huge pop .. felt it through the whole truck // took it back and they stated it was the rear end ,, needed som LS fluid from sitting //
2 weeks later it picked up the broken ring gear again and destroyed the whole rear end ,,

this is why they say it will never be the same after a wreck I guess ?

mine was a 1/2 ton so this was a good excuse to go 1 ton,,

your pull may just be the new pads and rotor .. did u do both sides ?

Thanks, all along the lines of what I was thinking. I will be happy getting it back right. We use the truck daily and it is sitting at the moment bunch of crap. I am not a mechanic but I argued that ball joint and bearing day one.
