I was just looking under the truck and noticed there is an electrical connection (or what certainly looks like one) coming out of the top center rear differential. Can someone tell me what it is for? It has peaked my curiosity. The truck is a 02 F-250, 7.3L, 3.73 Limited Slip.

Thanks....I guess they don't have them in the transmission anymore?? That's progress.

They have one in the tranny too. The ABS system in these trucks wants to know the speed of the rear end to compare to the front end to know when you're skidding. The tranny speed sensor can't tell if you're skidding.

You have additional speed sensors in each front hub. Any one of the three die and your yellow dash ABS light comes on.
