does anyone have a pic of this installed on there truck. I would like to see what it looks like compared to the stock filter set up. thanks
Only?!?! Seems like a lot! I'm going to weigh mine also, see what it collects in six months or so!I have over 20k on my AIS. I weighed the filter before I installed it and it's only collected 2.78 lbs of dirt.
Still flows perfectly well and will support over 400hp at the wheels.
Found the link for the fender sleeve- Ford 7.3L Powerstroke AIS Intake Foam Fender SleeveI did a lot of research on this a couple years ago when I was choosing an intake. I first did the DIY Tymar and hated the whoosh sound from the turbo on deceleration. After more research I was convinced the AIS was the best flowing, cleanest choice available. Purchased mine from Your Premiere Source for Ford Truck Parts and Accessories. I also installed the fender sleeve which does require drilling about a 2" hole in the filter assembly and the sleeve connects it to a factory cut out in the fender wall. The area behind the fender wall is fairly well sealed from outside debris. I also have the zoodad mod so it flows very well and I don’t get that that annoying sound just LOTS of scream from the turbo. I chose the fender sleeve because of the reports of the filter minder light. I have had zero problems, still on the first filter and have seen no issue with dirt or debris from the fender sleeve mod.
I have the early 99 and installed the AIS, I noticed a huge gain in power over the stock filter, I can actually hear the turbo spool up. I have to rebuild the fpr and possibly replace the hpop before I know what the fuel mileage will be. I am going to have to do the zoodad mod as the motor is trying to suck more air than the current configuratiion can handle. Either way it is a huge improvement over the stock filter.I didnt see an answer to this.
Also I'm thinking about getting the AIS but I would like to know if it improves fuel mileage moreso than power??hnoes: I cant beleive I asked that. Got to be the price of diesel going to my head...
