I'm looking at buying an airdog for my truck and was looking at eBay just to see what's out there and I noticed the price between Ford and dodge are different. The stock photos they have in place look the same and i figure there both doing the same job so why the difference?
Are they just looking to make an extra buck off us Ford guys or is there legitimate reasoning behind it.
I'm hoping some of our sponsors can chime in also to see what they have to say and how much they are selling for

I'm no expert. But the price difference is due to the pressure the fuel is supplied at. The Airdog2 system supplies the ford 6.0l at 55psi(2003-2004) or 50psi(2004.5-2007). While the Cummins only requires 17psi. I'm leaning more towards a FASS Titanium for my truck.

Yea I think that is where the price difference would lie. The ford only has one pump to lift it out of the tank and send it to the injectors and hydraulic oil pressure created by a separate pump forces it into the cylinder. On a dodge (or any other common rail IIRC), the airdog acts only as lift pump and sends it to another pump at like 17 psi or so and that is ran off of the cam shaft and that pump raises the pressure to something like 25000 psi. I could be wrong so dont quote me on the actual number but it is really high and then the fuel is injected into the cylinder. Hope that helps.

I think you must be comparing the Airdog I to the Airdog II. I just looked at thoroughbred and the Airdog I is the same price for all three trucks. The Airdog II is the same price for all three trucks as well. The pressure difference is not the reason for higher price tag, you just must be comparing two different pumps.

After saying that, don't bother with the cheaper Airdog I. The Airdog II replaces the whole factory pump and filter setup. Its more expensive but well worth the extra money IMO.

If you look at the link I gave it lists all applications and systems. The only Airdog's that supply at injector pressure are on the Ford 6.0l. All the others supply the HP fuel pump and it boosts to the injectors.

Guys the pressure difference and the fact that the Ford ones supply fuel directly to the injectors makes no difference. The price for an Airdog I is the exact same regardless of make and model of truck. The Airdog II is the same price regardless of make and model of truck! If you are comparing apples to apples Airdog pumps the Cummins, Duramax, and Powerstroke units are all the SAME price.

There is a big difference between the I and II pumps so naturally the Airdog II is more expensive. On the same note most people with powerstrokes opt to get the more expensive Airdog II because it completely replaces the factory unit.
