So I am at almost to moths with the new truck and have a couple questions for the 6.4 guys.

1. Today I had a regen. Not a big deal except it is the first one since we have had the truck, about 3500 miles and it only lasted about a couple miles unless the truck doesn't always tell me when its doing it.

2. My mirrors dont always like to go in and out, likt they are hanging up. Covered under warranty?

3. Did a CCV mod to the truck routed to atmosphere. It wont have any affect on the smog components will it. Wont set off a code or light?

4. Bypass oil filtration or coolant filtration first?

5. Does anyone elses 6.4 have giant vibration dampers mounted to the frame behind the rear leaf springs?

Coolant first.

One regen in 3500 miles. Might be due to the CCV mod. But that aint normal.

I think all the 450s have the dampener

I know when I first got my truck feb '08 It never told me I was in a regen. But I was deleted before they came out with the updated flash that informed you when you were in one. So I can't say anything on that. And no the CCV mod won't effect anything in the truck as far as code wise.
The telescoping mirrors I have heard of them binding up. I would definitely bring in for warranty they are something like 1200 for them.
And like dave said I would do the coolant filter first

1. I've had the regen message come up on the computer but it went away after a few seconds. However, the other day, I had a regen message that said "drive to clean exhaust system" and it stayed there even after a 30 minute run on the highway. Have never seen that message before. Only get the message saying cleaning exhaust system or something like that.

2. My mirrors used to go in at the same time/speed. Now, my passenger mirror folds in faster than my driver's side which isn't a huge deal to me so I haven't investigated it further. I do seem to have an abnormally large amount of paint chipping away on my driver's side door where the cab is joined to the door. Can see the bare metal. Wonder if that's a warranty claim or wear and tear.

Also the thing with the folding mirrors is that they sometimes become unsynced with each other. I think I read some thread on how to get them to be synced again just can't find it.

yes. there were issues where only one mirror might fold in or out. due to them being moved from the spot they were put in. So the truck would get all confused lol only way I can explain it. I don't have that fancy stuff on my truck. My truck came with the paddle mirror and I put the tow mirrors on 3 days after I picked my truck up.

I didn't know they came with that many different options. I thought it was only non power tow mirrors, power tow mirrors manual extending/folding and the power telescoping/folding mirrors. learn something every day.

on that note I hope you get it figured out. Have you tried maybe blowing air into it to see if maybe its debris slowing it down? like where the mirror slides in and out. just another thought that might work

Bumper stops are normal. I know everyone keeps saying it but I am gonna say it again. Do the delete and keep fuel out of your oil. I know you are worried about keeping the warranty. However the DPF is doing more harm than good ! (my one and only post to you about deletes :thumb:)

That's what it does. It does not stay on the whole time you are in regen unless you get the message "drive to clean exhaust filter". You can monitor it by pushing info, then reset on the dash. The last function will say cleaning exhaust filter when in regen.

Your truck has regened more then once, you probably just didn't notice it.

I have a 2009 4x4 bought new April 2010; all stock, no dpf deletes, etc. For the first year when the Regen process ran the message stayed on the entire process. After the PCM update in June the message shows for a few seconds then goes away, and you can watch your mileage decrease until the process is complete. But, since the update the regen process only seems to run about every 300 miles (every 200 miles before update.) My mileage also increased from about 14 mpg with mixed city/highway driving to about 16. Towing mileage (5th wheel, about 7,500 lbs.) also went from about 9.5 to 10.5

Ryan, I'm really surprised yours doesn't have folding mirrors. I've never heard of the KR's or Lariats having the extended but not the folding. I was under the impression you couldn't have one without the other. Have you ever pulled/toggled the mirror adjustment knob backward to see if maybe you actually have them and just weren't aware?

Get used to the message only displaying for a few seconds, that's the standard now with the last 3 flashes from Ford unfortunately. You can press the Setup button followed by Reset which will scroll through all the system checks and tell you whats what. If your truck is in regen, it will be displayed there.

I'm guessing based on the mileage that you probably just didn't notice it as the message can be easily missed. I have the iQ on my truck and have it display whenever it goes into regen, so I never miss it. I average close to 500 between regens, 3500 would be really nice. :)

As for the damper, I haven't seen it on the frame, only on the drive shaft. Must be a 450 thing if that's what it is. Got a pick so I we what to look for?

Ryan On the regen I know from my truck The message flashes so quick i didn't see for like 2500 miles but when i put my insight in i would see my EGT sky rocket and know it's regen but never saw it say it. I think ford likes it that way we don't see it and think it's all good.
