Hi all,
Odd occurrence here. While traveling the trails at the farm this week we lost AC. As soon as I put the truck in 4W High the AC and Blower cuts off. Even on Vent, nothing blows. Anyone ever had this happen? AC is certainly nice while riding the farm and checking on everything. It did pop back on a few times when I hit 15mph.

Also a side note- its time for new shocks. I don't want to lift the truck, it works for what we need. Would appreciate recommendations on replacement shocks/struts etc. We don't haul much weight, just the John Deer occasionally and we have a slide in truck camper, but it only weights 1200 lbs.

Thanks all!

It is designed that way to maintain optimal engine operating temperatures.

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak going to your front hubs, do they lock in automatically or do you have to manually lock them to make them work?

The vent system will only operate the defrost if there is a loss of vacuum, and since you notice the change when you shift into 4wd it is probably one of the vacuum hoses going to the hubs, or it could be a bad hub seal.

Thank you for the reply's. I will look into the vacuum theory. Will be nice having AC when it is 100+ out there!

I've never heard of the AC being shut off in 4wd.
The vacuum issue will still let the AC compressor work and the blower will still blow, but only in defrost mode.

As for shocks, Bilsteins are always a popular option.

this is a simple fix. yes it is a vacuum issue but 99 percent of the time it is a tiny little hose that hooks up just under the hood. often when engaging 4WD it will pop the hose off.
pop the hood and towards the back of the motor to the left of the turbo there is round circle about 2 inches wide and in the dead center there is a very little inlet that a little grey hose hooks onto it probably popped off and is just laying on the top of your block. i put some red lock tite on mine and never worried about it again. though i do not recommend lock tite cause now i can never take it off haha. good luck let me know if this fixes the problem.
