I've seen on my truck that the factory code for the rear springs is 34A. However I have been unable to locate what that means. I can say that the springs are made up of a total of 5 leafs or what some refer to as a 4/1 =4 leafs and 1 overload leaf.

I have seen this website 1980 - 1997 Ford F250 Leaf springs - front and rear

....and assuming its all good data it would appear that for my 4x2 truck there is 2 sets of 4/1 strings for the truck. One is 2800 pound capacity and one is 2400 pound capacity. Wish I knew what I have.

I too am interested in softening the ride or increase ride comfort.

Towards this goal I just installed 4 Bilstein 4600 series shocks and so far they seem nice.

If you still have the factory springs and bushings all new will make a huge difference. At least it did for me. Good to see folks using that link. It is accurate.
