My 95 powerstroke 7.3 f250 engine knocks when first started then after a few seconds runs normal. Some times I can hear the same knock when Im driving around but only if I have it on neutral. Other than that, the truck runs smoothly on any gear. I'm not really sure if the knocking comes from the engine or if it comes from another part. I would gladly appreciate any help!

Could possibly be your high pressure oil pump. How long have you had it and do you know the history very well? Also check your neutral safety switch on your transmission if it’s an automatic.

Just started doing it recently and you have owned the truck for a long time or recently purchased the truck or?
any recent work/big work completed on the truck?

more info about the truck/mods would help etc.
I recently purchased this truck. I don't believe there's any mods everything looks stock. The cluch feels new transmission feels fine. If the previous owner did any work, I wouldn't be able to know for sure.

Maybe check your flywheel to see if it's an original Dual Mass FlyWheel (DMFW). They get worn and sloppy a can cause weird things/noises. If it is a DMFW, see how much you can counter-rotate the masses against each other. If it's more than 5/8" (measured at the rim), it's bad. Cheers!
