I tow my boat on the weekends about 100 miles each way, 95% highway. Heres the stats:
55-65mph average
3 guys in truck, maybe 200lbs gear in bed
Boat/motors/trailer/fuel right around 10,000lbs
SCT custom tow tune
Always keep EGT under 1000*
Air temps have been between 75-100* (Ill bet the air is hotter than 100* on the ride home on the highway with all the cars on the road)
All numbers coming from my Edge
I have been seeing 198-210* ECT while towing & 200-215* EOT. Never more than 12* apart, sometimes as close as 4*. But I would say averaging 8-12*.
I replaced my oil cooler last year. I just had new HG's installed, coolant flushed, and Shell EC1 coolant with distilled water added back in April.
I run Shell T5 or T6 every oil change, never more than 4000 miles.
When not towing ECT and EOT are usually about 5* part, and rarely get over 200*.
Is this normal in this summer heat? Or should I think about the BPD cooler or replacing my stock oil cooler?
