So I went outside today and couldn't help but noticed that my exhaust had fallen apart. I have no idea how. It seems as if it melted, but my egt's never get that hot because I have a edge tuner so I'm able to monitor them. I live in the PNW and it did snow yesterday and I was out and about. This truck was bought about 11 yrs ago, and I can't tell if this is an aftermarket or stock exhaust system. The pipe where it broke off was extremely rusty, and with the snow and salt out yesterday, I'm wondering if that could be the cause.

I'm wondering where I can go from here... I plan on buying a whole new setup, and wondering what the best one is. I've seen flo pro, MBRP, and Diamond eye. I want to get a 5" straight pipe turbo back...

I tried to upload a video but it was too long. Instead I added a picture. Appreciate any feedback!

when I bought my 02 in July, it had a Ford Fusion muffler and 1.5 inch tail pipe behind that, about 3 feet long.
made a horrible screeching noise.

stopped in a rural area muffler shop in Utah and they junked the whole thing, and ran new 4" from header to bumper, works great.

Whatever i do i want it to either sound the same or better. Im wondering if the setup i had was stock besides the tip at the end or, if it was an aftermarket because it did sound pretty great. The main question i have is if it was aftermarket would it still have a muffler?

You can go either way. With or with out, your choice.

FROM THE PHOTO.....IT LOOKS LIKE YOUR MUFFLER IS ROUND.....I CAN'T REALLY BE SURE BECAUSE OF THE ANGLE.....IF IT IS "ROUND".....IT IS PROBABLY AFTER-MARKET.....IF IT IS OVAL.....IT IS PROBABLY FACTORY.....

LET US KNOW WHAT SYSTEM YOU SELECT.....I WILL BE INTERESTED IN NEW EXHAUST SOON.....

B-T-W.....COREY AT CNCFAB WOULD PROBABLY BE A GOOD SOURCE FOR THIS INFORMATION.....

Like @kc87flhtc, I put a 4" TB MBRP exhaust on my '01. I added a 4" turn down tip due to getting soot on my 5th wheel trailer with the straight tip. It came with a flow-thru muffler that can be put on either way. Inside, it has opening in the pipe so that if out on one way the exhaust flows over the openings, the other way the openings catch some of the exhaust to make it quieter. It's been on there for at least 10 years (back when MBRP could still ship to CA - they don't now). All good. I am in CA and not near snow as a rule so things last longer.

10 YEARS.....I LIKE THAT.....HOWEVER.....I AM ON THE EAST COAST WHERE WE GET SNOW AND SALT.....BUT STILL I NOTICE THAT IF I PUT GOOD QUALITY EXHAUST PARTS ON MY VEHICLES.....THEY TEND TO LAST A LONG TIME EVEN WITH THE SNOW AND SALT.....

You need a full T304 steel system, anything else will look like crap after a few winters.

T409 stainless is what all current exhaust kits for our trucks are. T304 is stupid expensive, and one of the main reasons MBRP stopped making them.

I sell all brands. In my experience of installing all brands, Diamond eye was the one I would have the most issues with but they are less expensive. I've had a couple MBRP not fit well, and Flo-Pro on cab and chassis were all a pain.

I have 5" on my 7.3 and it has a bit deeper tone over the 4", but FYI there is no performance gain going to the 5".

Ok so I know it's been a while. I've been busy I kinda forgot about it. I did end up ordering a flo pro 5" turbo back, and just got it in on Tuesday. Haven't installed it yet. My main question/concern is the truck is chipped and has an egt probe so i can monitor them. Will putting this new exhaust mess with that?

John, you should have videotaped this as a warning to young idiots on the internet.... I can not imagine the sound, but would compare it mentally to the sound of the rubber chicken on the exhaust...
