I have a 2002 e450 that needs serious help. It acts like it loads up with fuel and dies after sitting an idling and driving it a few miles. Please help I have changed out quite a few parts already.

Sorry nobody got to you yet Bret, I know very little about the 7.3 platform I'm more of a 6.0 guy, but I assure you that someone in the 7.3 category will have an answer for you.

Okay long story but here goes. I bought the van about 6 months ago. I bought it about 275 miles away and drove it home. On the way it started to lose horsepower and bellow black smoke, and eventually die. After I let it sit for awhile it would be fine till it would "lay down" again. Finally got it home and changed the fuel pump. I have since changed the Oil and filter new ICP got rebuilt IPR got a reman IDM new UVCH's reOringed the hpop, Alternator and the up pipe donuts. I noticed it would "load up" with fuel if I let it idle for 15-20 minutes. When I hold the throttle down in park it lets out a blue/gray/white smoke at first then. "cleans out". Theres been little or no change. except maybe its gotten worst. Im looking for someone local with a diagnostic program to point me in the right direction. Also it has a slight rough idle but not terrible.

Have you checked the air filter by chance? Also sounds like you may have a bad O-ring (s) on the fuel side of an injector(s). Also, pull the intake piping off to the inducer side of the turbo. You may have an impeller that is in bad shape.

Its a long shot but someone may have installed a single shot injector or two in it. That would give it a rough idle too. But this is not very common but can happen.

Air filter is new, turbo looks and feels okay with "elephant trunk" off. Sounds like next step is to pull injectors.

Don't pull them yet if you haven't already. Do or have a buzz test and CCT done first.

Ran a buzz test twice, first time 2 and 8 failed, 1272 1278 1293 1294 passed the 2nd time. On the CCT Cylinder 2 failed. Which injectors does this motor have?

Its probably going to have the AD injectors but not for absolute sure until you pull the valve cover. Being its a 450 it may have single shots but I doubt it.

Sometimes a buzz test on sticks will pass and fail intermittently according to the laptop, but when you did it, did you notice a significant difference in how loud each one buzzed? It may still slightly buzz enough to pass but will be quieter than the others. That means that it is about to fail or is failing mechanically.

Cylinder #2 you definitely have an issue with. Did it buzz at all? If not, it could have just came unplugged under the valve cover. If it did buzz, but really weak, then its definitely a bad injector.

Now, if it didn't buzz at all and its still plugged in to the harness then you will need to swap positions of the injector to see if it follows the injector or continues to be a problem in that cylinder. If the problem stays in that cylinder then its a wiring issue (typically the under valve cover harness). Obviously if it follows the injector it the injector or coil pack on the injector.

It did buzz, There was a Difference in Volume I didnt really pay to much attention. I may buy an injector and just replace it. Thank you for your knowledge and help.
