My cousin has a 04 250 with a 5.4 he is trying to squeeze some MPG out of, is there a DIY intake for the gassers like the 6637 intake?

Of course!!! If you can figure out how, you can do anything. We made that filter work in a Jeep Cherokee, old cummins, my truck. Probably a few others.
Mods are fun, forget spending $500 on some bs intake

I'm not sure if its the same on that 5.4 but on my 2000 There was a trick where you take a piece of PVC and replace that little funnel shaped thing that connects the airbox to the inner fender. Don't even remember what it's called. Gotts mod?

quick google search for one. seems to have a different intake than mine did.

Sure as long as he keeps the mass air flow sensor in after the filter.

The motor's only got so much displacement. It can only pull in so much air in a revolution.

Never hurts to let it bite off as much as it can chew.
