i have a 1985 f250 with a 6.9L I.D.I. diesel that is 2 wheel drive and has a 4 speed manual ranny. i want to put my buddy's 7.3L powerstroke motor into it and do a complete motor swap. i was wondering what it would take to pull off this swap and what i would need to do. i would really like to keep the manual tranny and was also wondering if the old for manuals would fit onto a newer powerstroke motor.

powerstroke? theres gonna be a lot to move over, it was a idi, then it should be minor stuff.

i mean, my 6.9 runs real strong but i just love the sound and the power capabilities of the 7.3 psd

and thats true. idis are stong engines but have limited mod capabilities lol.

im not sure if the cross member fits right off and what has to be moved are the electronics since its not mecanical.

but hopefully someone chimes in. ill post this link in the obs chat thread to get some members in here.

Motor mounts are the same, tranny bolt patterns are the same (though on automatics the torque converters bolt pattern is different. If you have a powerstroke with all the wiring, have at it. It should slip right in place. Might need a big hammer to push back the firewall a little bit, but it should go right in.

The only thing I'm missing is all the wiring. Lol I can probably get all that bc my buddy just did a cummins swap in his 95 psd

someone makes a standalone wiring harness i thought? its definitely doable, ive seen a 7.3 powerstoke stuffed in a 79 pickup
