I just bought an 07 250 CCSB with 98000 miles on it, I'm fixing to lose the 100000 miles warranty and wanting to do some things to add power and help make the truck more reliable, it has a k and n air intake and a straight pipe on it at time of purchase, I hear the EGR is a good thing to do but the local shop is charging 2500 to do it, it seems a little expensive to me, I don't race it I use as my DD and it gets taking care of, just wanting to add some power, the shop told me head studs and EGR delete would be 4500, I thought that was pretty high also, any help or suggestions be greatly appreciated thanks

Headstuds, egr delete and a custom tuned sct is a solid bet for reliability. most shops charge between 2500-4000 for the job, parts included. where are you located?

I'm in louisiana, but don't mind driving some to go to a good shop, you say up to 4000 for the install and parts is that witth the SCT also, do you get more pep out of the truck with the scanner and delete kit?

The egr delete kit you can get for $200 and do it yourself. It took 3 of us about 10hrs total. Could do it faster now that i know what to expect. The head studs should only cost you between $2600-$3200 for labor and i think the studs and gaskets are around $600. Thats for ARP studs and black onyx gaskets. Shop around though for the prices the labor. Also make sure that who ever you choose to use actually decks the heads to make sure they are flat. Some places say you don't need to but thats a bunch of crap and lazy mechanics.

For the most reliability go with studs,egr delete and stock tuning I would say.
Or call a tuner and get a low power tune 50-80hp and stop at that.....once you tune it though you will get bit by the bug like the rest of us.

What part of Louisiana? There is a guy in Baton Rouge that will do head gaskets, studs, egr delete, clean the turbo, do new o rings for the injectors, give three tunes on an SCT tuner and I believe replace the oil cooler for $5k.
