Hi, about 3 days ago, I took my 04 F350 6.0 in to the dealer and had them do the cold start inductive heating program on the FICM, and then I drove a couple miles to the house, and changed the oil with Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme Synthetic 5w40, and a new motorcraft filter, then changed the 2 fuel filters with the updated design motorcraft filters. OK, before I had the flash done, my truck was bad with cold starts, ran rough, missing, loud as a hammer mill so to speak, and had lower power until it was at operating temperature, then it smoothed out. Since I did everything to it the other day, it made a huge difference in the way it runs cold, sounds MUCH better than before. Since the flash and work, I have had it crank up and die a couple of times before it keeps running when cold, but once it does, it sounds great, but now it seems to run worse when its warm! It has a small "stumble" when you're in overdrive and mash on it, and it has a hesitation in it sometimes, runs real rough for a bit then smooths out. When it does it, you could be running 50 or 55 mph and try to accelerate lightly without shifting into overdrive, and the whole truck will start shaking rapidly, and you can hear the engine hesitating or missing, and then if you floor it on down into passing gear, it smooths out. I used some Ford Cetane additive in the fuel and it didnt make any difference. My question is, could it be the flash just making a bad injector more visible now, or is there a problem with one of the fuel filters or something? Ive looked at both fuel filters to see if there was a leak, but dont see any fuel anywhere. Any ideas?

Hey Big, I was wondering what you ever found out? I know this post is old but maybe you'll see it.
Thanks

What I did.

My assumption was pretty much correct, just a bad injector. I had looked at so many posts about injector problems, how high they were, etc...and I kept seeing people mention that Rev-X oil additive. I had tried Lucas, Redline, Risolone, etc...with NO results at all, but after seeing so many people say that Rev-X worked, I figured with the cost of injectors, that I'd give it a try. It worked in less than 400 miles. I've been using it every oil change since. At $35 a bottle, it's an extra $70 per oil change, but price a set of injectors.

So Rev-X does a 6.0 good? I've read about it, I am just skeptical for a "bottle" fix...I've already replaced 1 injector and am thinking I have at least 1 more bad one. However I want to get autoenginuity before I replace another one. The only way I am doing a set of injectors is if I do preformance injectors.

It takes 2 bottles per oil change? Everything I read has been 2 bottles on the first change then 1 there after. What if you don't put it in does it "go away"

Thanks
Jon

I was skeptical of a bottle fix too, but yes, it worked. It does take 2 on the 1st oil change, and most people say they use 1 bottle afterwards, but I have been using 2 anyway. As far as not using it for a change or two afterwards, I wouldn't know, I guess you could try and see what happens. I'm not sure how it works, if it's just that "slick", or if it cleans and removes some of the deposits from the oil side of the injectors. If it removes it somewhat, I guess it could do without it a few changes, but if it just lubricates that good, I'd think it would need it in there to work. I'm just gonna use it like I've been doing, since I have 2 vehicles I drive, the oil changes aren't that close together anyway.

I know this is a few years old, but what you described is exactly what my 04 EX does. It only really does it when the oil gets old, Im on my second oil change whith Rev-X, and I think it is helping. I was wondering if your truck is a early or late build 04 as mine is a early with a 03 eng. I also have a issue with hot starts, so I was wondering if you found any issues with your injectors or HPO sys? Hope you see this and thank you in advance for your help.
