Anyone have a 5th wheel? I'm curious how it works for height adjustment and tweaking it so that the trailer is level... Additionally if you have multiple 5th wheels can you have it setup so that you don't have to do anything in the truck bed... Ideally i'd like to be able to unhook my car hauler and hook my camper within seconds or minutes.. (currently have a bumper pull enclosed car hauler and no camper want some info!)

Sure, just have a kingpin setup put on the car hauler. I have both the gooseneck and 5th wheel for my car hauler trailer.

Pin boxes have adjustments as well as the hitches. Find a good height between em all and go. Easy to hook up and unhook.

What's the difference between gooseneck and 5th wheel? I've always been told there the same???

most flatbeds, livestock trailers and carhaulers use goosenck style, it allows for driving over more uneven terrain, the 5th wheel is used on most campers and semi's.

So if i bought a 5th wheel camper would i just convert my car hauler to 5th wheel also? It would be an enclosed car hauler

I've seen some car haulers with a small pinbox plate and kingpin added, but idk how.
5th wheel pulls smoother than gooseneck.

5th wheel has more control over trailer sway, gooseneck allows for more side role if traveling uneven terrian. gooseneck is more convienent for using the bed of your truck than 5th wheel.

But if you have the b&w hitch you can pull that out and have full access to the bed tho... and I wouldn't need the bed when I have the trailer hooked up...

Rails do not take up the bed hardly. Not worth griping about

B&W is still bolted in with 4 bolts, but is removable. I've had rails in a truck, not a big deal most of the time but haul furniture or somthing that's long and flat and those rails are 2 pressure points to wear on it. Not trying to say don't get a 5th wheel, if you do mostly highway trailering, or don't need to constantly go back and forth between box and trailer use daily, 5th wheel is probably the better option for lots of people.

Honestly I don't know how much I'll be towing. Right now I'm using the bumper pull trailer ALOT. One friend needs a car moved.. Another needs help moving. And my oldest brother is moving from state to state. I love when the conversation starts "you have a truck right?"... But then the trailer will sit for 6 months without being touched. I would like to eventually get a toy. Maybe an old chevelle mustang or porsche. So I'll definately keep some type of car transporter, just not sure how much i'll use it. The wife wants to get into camping/traveling and I would like to as well. Figure I have a f350 drw, so I think it would be stupid to get anything besides a 5th wheel. Just looking at the cost and the hassle. Might be cheaper just to keep my current trailer (2011 Pace 20ft) and buy a 5th wheel camper and call it a day... Just will depend how well the car hauler pulls with the new (to me) truck. Hope it does ok.:dunno:
