Hello, i removed the front pump with tranny still in the vehicle..replaced the support shaft and put pump back together...do i need an alignment tool to put pump back in??? I used welding rods to line up bolt holes and slid the pump back into position..problem is that when i start tightening down the bolts, the pump drive shaft binds up...4 year old grand son was trying to help and was learning some new words ##@@%%&&@###...so it's time to quit for the day and let the steam vent...i'm hoping a fresh start will result in that dang pump just sliding into place...any advice from more experienced tranny techs would be greatly appreciated...

I guess I don't understand. How did you get the pump out with it still in the vehicle? You say 4r100 but what year is it? What support shaft? The stator shaft? And yes the pump halves need to be aligned and in the correct spot. Also, there is no pump drive shaft, it is drivin from the torque converter hub, I'm guessin you ment input shaft?
