Hey guys, so like 3 months ago my dad bought a new (to him) 2008 F350 6.4, Supercab long bed with a Reading utility bed GVWR 11,000lbs With the 6.4 PSD with 69k on the clock. well after 3 months it now has 72k. Anyway he LOVES the truck, everything about it (he's a general contractor so the body's great) except for the 10 miles per gallon part... We have been looking into DPF delete pipes. My question is do you need a tuner!? One of my fathers friends (who is an ASE certified Ford diesel mechanic) seems to think no, because if the PSI in the DPF never gets to the point of it needing to hit re-gen, then it just won't re-gen ever. Idk it seems to make sense because if you think about it places sell the pipe with the kit that includes a tuner because the tuner is where they make the money. They want to sell you a tuner, so they're going to say you need it so they can make $$$. IMO i don't think its necessary, but what the hell do i know right! It does make sense but i figured i'd ask you guys before we spend 185 bucks on a pipe and cant use it because we have no tune. Oh and i've heard of the extra soot clogging the cat???? idk help me out.
