I am in the market to change my air filter, and was wondering about going back stock or is thier some other Air Filter that might be better. I am wanting to do some other things also to help get more fuel milage. nothing mojor just a couple ideas. Give me a few ideas that you may have done that helps you on fuel milage.......thanks......


The truck is an 2005 cc 2x4 with 142,000 miles....original owner....

The Air Filter is stock ....actually everything on the truck is stock. I figured if I am gonna get a new air Filter I may go after market.

unless you have plans for the future a OEM filter is a good bet. I ran the stock unit even on the setup I have now. The only thing it really did was help spool up of the PM a little but I saw more out of the intercooler kit than the intake. For the winter Ill be going back to OEM filter setup and detune the truck. That is one of the reasons I like the backs in less than 5 mins I can change the whole setup from stock to banks or the other way around.

Clean your maf sensor. Stay away from banks and k&n for sure unless you lIke replacing your turbo a lot. aFe is a good brand that retains I higher micron filtering.

my truck had a K&N on it for nearly 70k and the stock turbo is still in fine shape. it's all in how you maintain the truck with said filters.... I just removed it because of trouble shooting issues related to fueling which ended up being bad injectors. I can say the Banks filter is much better made than the K&N filter though.

I doubt that. When you had your turbo inspected what was the wear rate on your turbo blades? Its been proven time and time again k&n allows too much crap in that tears up the turbo blades. It's like constantly sandblasting your turbo not to mention it all goes in your motor.

I'd remove your cat on the exhaust and either delete the muffler or get a straight through style.

warchild is right banks and k&n are garbage stay away from them your best bet is the stock filter
