Truck Has 130,000 Has no oil pressure at idle off idle 35psi.Long crank time to start. Confirmed no to very slight pressure at idle with mechanical gage.No unusual noise from engine & oil and filter ok. Any clues or help

Are you using an aftermarket oil pressure guage? and if so, where are you getting your reading from?

No oil pressure at idle

Removed oil pressure sending unit for factory electronic gage and confirmed oil pressure was very low to 0 at idle

So you are using an aftermarket gauge, and taking your reading from where the sending unit for the factory guage goes?

Yes this was to confirm what the factory gage was also showing. It also showed no oil pressure at idle and would set off the alarm so I installed a manual test gage to test oil pressure and it also shows low or 0 psi at idle but good pressure with slight throttle 1000rpm will go to 35 to 40 and stay there until throttle released and then goes back to 0psi when shut off for a little while will take excessive crank time to restart if sets over night take a very long crank time to start and get oil pressure.Need to know what would cause no to very low oil pressure at idle like this and it happened suddenly.During a drive all was ok then after slowing to stop noticed low oil pressure warning alarm.

Alright, just wanted to make sure you weren't using the factory guage, since its a dummy guage. and "on or off" guage in other words.

But i dont know 6.0's very well, so i'm of no help to you in the cause of yur low Oil Press.

Let me get this thread moved for you to the 6.0 section(prolly should have put it there to begin with), so the techs and such will see it.

Just to update those that may have a similar problem.The Oil filter housing and oil cooler were removed for inspection.There were bits of fiber and or plastic debris removed from the filter housing some lodged in the bypass and bleed back valve.There is a screen under the oil cooler.During this inspection part of the screen had been blown out.Still not sure of the root cause of the loss oil pressure at idle.The harmonic balancer was removed and the geroter oil pump and housing were inspected for wear.This is the low pressure oil pump that supplies main engine oil pressure.All checked to be OK.The oil pan was then removed to inspect the oil sump for contamination and clogging.There was some fiber and plastic type material.but didn't appear to be much.But the break threw came with the finding of approx.3/8 diameter ball bearing in the oil pan .This turns out to be a check valve in the high pressure oil pump under the turbo.When it dislodged from the pump it tore a hole in the screen under the oil cooler,causing oil pressure to drop at idle.A couple grand later a lot of work, pulling hair out,research and phone calls its fixed.
