Hey everyone.
I recently bought my second Powerstroke. A 2003 E450 17 passenger van, like a shuttle bus with the handicap lift in the rear.
I have a few questions.
My first powerstroke was a 97 F350 4wd ex city water and lighting truck with 47k on it. I liked that one but had serious issues with the electronic gas pedal.
(I know it's not called gas in a diesel, but do you really call it a fuel pedal?:dunno:)
It would drop to an idle while driving and stay that way for up to 15 minutes.
Did they eliminate that problem in later years? I FINALLY found just the electronic switch for I think 70 bucks instead of the whole pedal assemby, so if it's still a problem on this 2003 I would rather be pre-emptive and keep a spare on board.

The next question is what are the specs for an E450? Does it have the 4R100?
Is it internally the same as say an F350?
One of the reasons I ask is I would like to do a chip or tuner, TP I think it is or an Evolution with the display if I can swing it, but since this thing doesn't have an intercooler and is HEAVY I want to make sure I won't burn up the trans.
I haven't weighed the van alone yet, but I weighed the van with a 2300lb trailer and my 71 blazer on the trailer and it was 19k
I can't imagine my blazer being much over 5500k so that would put this thing at around 11k empty.

And the last question I have is what kind of rear suspension is this?
It has leaves, but no shackles. The rear of the springs are attached with these huge rubber rectangular isolators. The ride is GREAT but it worries me on towing and weigh capacity.

Here's a pic of it

2003 with 150k on it, brand new tires and brakes, serviced, working rear A/C, for 1600 bucks.

What kind of highway fuel economy are you getting with your bus? I'm looking into getting something identical but can't find a solid answer on highway fuel economy anywhere.
