2003 7.3 f550 fuel bowl delete fuel ecomomy

I have been thinking about this recently as I had a bad drain valve o rings and was leaking. Are there any benefits from removing the fuel bowl? I currently get about 9mpg pulling my trailer. My truck is completely stock with only 80k miles on it. At 65 mph my tach is about 2600 rpms as well. This truck is a 4x4 with manual locking hubs as well. Would a bank's tuner increase mpg? Or a different differential? Thanks for any and all input on both subjects.

I can to answer the tuner portion very well other than I have seen way more folks complain about Bank's than liking it. Hydra seems to be preferred.

For the fuel bowl it is a good design if you are running mostly stock or close to it.

Others will likely chime in soon but I believe other than the Hutch/ Harpoon mod the fuel system is good near stock or so power.

As far as economy 9 mpg or so when pulling is a variable depending on terrain, environmental conditions, speed, and trailer with that you are likely doing good and changing the fuel system to chase a better burn rate on fuel is better spent on good maintenance.

Again my opinion ....
At 65 mph my tach is about 2600 rpms as well.
You might get a kick out of this pic. The speedo is accurate. I can't do this towing my enclosed car trailer, the EGT gets too high. But with the ski boat or not towing at all, the MPG gets into the upper teens. I have a Gear Vendors.

Your 9 MPG doesn't sound that far off. Especially if you have 4.11 gears, which I think you do. I get 10-11 towing in direct drive with 3.73 gears.

Removing the fuel bowl definitely cleans up the engine valley, but it's not necessary. I have fuel bowl reseal kits, and maybe something to think about is our bowl retain fuel line kit.

As far as a tuner, this one is by far the most popular.

I have a E99 with 3.73gears. I am not in a hurry when towing. Unloaded on the highway at 65-68mph I get 19mpg. If driving at 75-80mph or mixed with city it drops to 15-16mpg. i have only been towing in mountains mixed with a little flat land, and I am at in the high 13 mpg. My trailers is about 6.5K pounds. I am hoping for slightly higher driving on the open road. If your trailer is heavier, driving faster than I do, or you have the 4.11gears you are going to lower milage.
2000 Excursion 7.3 4x4 (hubs still locked in)
Interstate @ 75mph
Banks intake and exhaust
Edge tuner on tow mode
Garrett GT38P Turbo
Jasper Stage 1 Transmission
18mpg
how much total weight are you towing?

9 mpg sounds about right with 4.11 gearing

thank god you don't have a 460 gasser
