my husband is currently on the road for work and the turbo blew out in our new truck. we replaced the turbo no problem and now they mechanic said that the backdraft control module is out. anyone i talk to has never heard of this part. someone plz help. what is it? what does it do? the mechanic says he can haul up to north dakota from missouri without it and it wont affect the truck! is this true?!?! in desperate need of some advice!!!!

if he means the exhaust back pressure control valve, just unplug it. Make sure the vale is open in the exhaust. If its hooked up properly to the new turbo, u can just unplug it and forget it.

your welcome, The rod that goes thru the pedestal that operats the ebpv has an o ring that seals oil from leking. As long as you dont have oil pouring out the whole bpv system can be totally removed and plugged or the power wires going to the system can just be unhooked. The system is not nccessary. The valve it opens in the output side of the turbo just needs to be open so the exhaust flows out of it. The system closes when the motor is cold to help it warm up faster. But its noteeded and you wouldn't even know it was gone
