guys i tried searching it but no clear answer.

today i went to fill up my truck ($4.09 a gallon blows) but their was a guy their with a 05 f250 6.0 and when he finish filling up he put 1/2 a quart of two stroke oil super tech brand. I asked him why he did that, and he says he gains 1 mpg and his truck runs way smoother and that fuel additives are bs that 2 stroke oil is better, i only put fuel additives every 5-8 when i fill up.
but if i could put super tech or any 2 stroke oil i would do it every fill up.
so could i use 2 stroke oil in my 6.4 motor? and could it be any 2 stroke oil?
and how much do i use? this guy put 1/2 the quart seems much?

what do you guys think

thanks for your time :ford:

dude, c'mon. It's a 6.4. You don't say how much you are modified. You gotta use ultra low sulfur fuel and special CJ4 rated oil. why? because of your dpf. Why in the heck would you think you could burn some 2 stroke oil and be good? not tying to be a dic* but is this one of those baited questions? The '05 guy doesn't have the same sh*t as you and You should know that.

I ran all the recommended fuel additives that people suggested in my 6.0 and now my 6.4 and none of them did a thing really. I run power services white bottle with anti-gel in the winter to keep the fuel from gelling.

Just stick with a cetane booster and something with lubricant even tho you have the dpf deleted the 6.4 has a way different fuel system then the 6.0. I have put maybe 2 tanks thru my truck with out diesel kleen then rest of them I always put it in I have over 100k miles. You should really try to do it every fill up even if it's only a little but gotta keep that hpfp protected you will thank yourself in the long run

I ran 2 stroke for the first time a couple tanks ago. It did make the truck run good. About the same on mpgs. I normally run either gray bottle power service or the ford stuff. Out of these 3 I do notice a difference and compared to not running any I do gain some mpgs. I am currently trying a tank of full rate ford cetane boost and 4 oz of 2 stroke oil. I know in my cummins the trick was diesel kleen plus marvel mystery oil. The main thing is I have piece of mind I am keeping the fuel system lubed! And yes, please don't try this with a dpf.

I am not sure how much to use but just make sure it is ashless.

the supertech from walmart is probably the best stuff to use. cheapest and ashless. I do it in my 7.3 and it quiets it down a bit. Honestly in a 6.4 I would stick with cetane booster, something like that.

Putting in two stroke oil is almost like running farm fuel.. Farm fuel is still clearly better then any additives or oils..

i would be careful how much 2 stroke you fellas are running. I know in 7.3s and 6.0s it was good lubrication, but why run something a few bucks cheaper when additives like diesel kleen are designed to be put into our fuel tanks? Doesn't make much sense to me...

To me its not about cheaper, but according to tests 2 cycle oil is one of the best lubricators out there. You have to remember that now days these additive companies have to comply with the ulsd requirements so they are limited on how much lubrication they can provide and still meet requirements. That's my $.02 anyway.

From what I understand (and I could be totally wrong) but in trucks with the 6.4 even if the DPF is deleted you still should not use 2 stroke oil in the fuel system because it is too thick for our HPFP.

If I am not mistaken in that study it is even said that the 2 stroke oil is not compatible with the new engines. Weather it is because of the DPF or the HPFP I would stay safe and just use what we know is compatible with the trucks.
