I've got a 95 7.3 that has consistent issues starting. The batteries have been charged and recharged which helps for a short time, when it does not start the read 11.- on the voltimeter...when running theyre up to 13.6. I'm wondering if the starter is going bad and what the most reliable brand to get would be.

As long as the battery terminals are perfectly clean and tight as well then yes I would point to the starter. Once it cranks like it should you will sit back and think "oh so that's how it's supposed to sound?"

I've been on 8+ years on mine from local auto part store. Kind of luck of the draw and depends on your budget.

Okay so I’ve got a brand new starter…still nothing…connections are good, batteries are good, I tried bypassing the solenoid but still no start…it’s hit or miss even using starter fluid
