We'll I finally found my dream truck and I'm getting back into a Ford. 1970 F250 crewcab, putting in a Cummins 4bt and a M5R2 5 speed tranny. I've been searching for one of these trucks for years and finally got a hold of one.

Few pics:

After about 60 hours of body work.

Old 360 coming out with NP435 4 speed tranny.

New to me Cummins 4bt.

Switching to Hydroboost.

New steering gear. Holy crap this things heavy.

The 327 I had built for her before I decided had to go with the Cummins.

My current Cummins which will be for sale when this is done.

Too heavy for these old Ford suspensions. Not made for 1000# + motors. I don't tow, haul anything, drag race or sled pull, this is my daily driver. I have a 6bt Cummins now and its way more power than I need.

4bt will be sweet if you turn it up enough.
Already tweaked it all 5 ways possible. Pretty simple pump really. Took me all of 2 hours to tune it. Can wait to get her running.

Thanks Shawn, I'm having a blast with it. I can't wait to get home from work everyday and work on it. My wife isn't too excited about it but its better than the bus I built a few years ago that took up a lot more space.

Awesome build! I love those old crews. I'll definitely be following this build.
I may be sending a PM your way about your current CTD... :D

Pretty much just finished a year + of "restoring" that thing. Chrysler really knows how to build a cheap vehicle that wears faster than a pair of sneakers. I basically rebuilt the whole truck except the Cummins which purrs like a friggin kitten.

Heres the short list I've compiled of parts replaced:

New A/C components:

A/C COMPRESSOR

A/C DRYER

A/C EVAPORATOR (under dash)

A/C CONDENSOR

A/C HIGH & LOW PRESSURE LINES

Basically the entire a/c system has been replaced at a cost of over $2200.

Front end components:

New hubs

Ball joints x4

Shocks x4

Tie rods

Drag link

Track bar

track bar drop bracket

Coil springs + 5"

Dick Cepek long arms

BD steering stabilizer brace

New 3 turn lock to lock steering box

Borgenson steering shaft

Brakes x2

Upgraded to GM cylinders for the rear drum brakes (twice the stopping power)

New serpentine belt

New Goodyear tires 285/75/16r Road Armor E rated

New headlights

New 3rd gen tow mirrors

Engine upgrades and maintenance:

New VP44 injection pump

New AirDog 100 lift pump

New stage 4 Edge Jammer injectors

Quadzilla Adrenaline with Pulse in cab monitor/gauges. Beta 300 tunes.

BD RAD (eliminates torque management) switch controlled

4" turbo back exhaust

1 20" muffler

1 40/40 Aero Turbine muffler

Airbox removed for BHAF

Fumoto oil drain plug

Radiator flushed

Front & rear diffs fluid changed

Transmission:

Full rebuild with DTT (Diesel Transmission Technologies) internals

Triple disc torque convertor

Aftermarket valve body

Upgraded to GM solenoid ( higher line pressure)

New govenor pressure sensor

New tranny pan with plug

Rear main seal replaced

Transfer case flushed

Misc:

New door panels

new dash bezel

Pleather seat covers

Shell painted flat black with Thule racks

Carpet kit in bed with storage boxes

Quarter panels line-x'ed

New side steps

New flasher for blinkers

New front bumper

I've seen a build like that on PSN and it came out awesome. Its so fun building a truck exactly the way you want it with the parts and drive train you want.

Got her back on her own two feet again. New I beams, new kingpins, new coils, new control arms, shocks, bushings.....

40 years worth of crud gone. Old 360 should be coming out this week and hopefully 4bt going in. We got some work to do modifying the oil pan to fit around the drag link.

Gotta go her some new shoes this week too. Those old things are just nasty.

This is going to be plenty cool.

Love the 4 door truck from the era.

You wouldn't happen to be able to read the number on the fan hub mount casting wouldja?

I've been looking for the lower style, 4 bolt direct drive hub for awhile. I noticed it has a clutch bolted to it but alls I need is the hub assembly number bolted on the block.

I'll bet the thing gets 20+ mpg when finished:thumb:
