2002 f250, 7.3, with 225K on it. This is one of our work trucks, so I'm starting from scratch since I don't drive it and was just told there was a problem. Took it out today to figure out where to start. Has been leaking oil when it sits in the shop overnight (don't know yet from where, going to pressure wash to see where it's from). Smokes gray/black when cold when you step on it. Strong exhaust odor. Pulled codes P1247 and P1248 codes. Turbo boost low and not detected. Truck will boost to about 15psi, according to A pillar gauge. Discovered a cracked intake boot and there was a sign of some light dust in boot. Think we caught it early though because it looks minor and turbo fins look good. I'm thinking the oil leaks are from HPOP fittings since I had a '99 that did the same thing. When you decelerate there is a whoosh noise (can't think of a better term!) from the turbo area. Back pressure valve? The truck does have a BD exhaust brake, but not sure if that's related at all. I knew these 7.3s pretty good, but once you buy a 6.0 they take all your attention!
