The Tru-cool is a decent cooler. Another very good option is the Ford OEM 6.0L trans cooler. It is nearly a direct fit on the 94.5-97 trucks like it is on the 99-03's. I've installed a few on the older trucks and I have custom made adapters/kit to go from the stock 5/16 lines to the 1/2" ports on the 6.0 cooler

      Hey guys,

I have a 1995 F350 that is having an injector failure again. 260k miles on stock injectors. I use the truck to tow my race car and want to make sure it is good an reliable. My trailer is about 10k lbs. I am pretty mechanically inclined I build all my own race cars. I've done valve jobs, headgaskets, engine replacements, subframe replacements. A little bit of everything. However I have never done any work on a diesel engine. After watching some videos and reading some guides (https://www.riffraffdiesel.com/cont...el_7.3L_Injector_Replacement_Instructions.pdf) I think it is manageable to do all these jobs myself. Do I need any special tools for any of this? Obviously diesel injectors are quite different then fuel injectors, is there some special information I need? Any tips before placing an order?

I was looking specifically at these parts with the help of their tech team:
Injector SetAlliant Power 94.5-03 7.3L Reman AC Injectors - ALLP-7001-PP
      Turbo Wheel/Rebuild
      Valve Cover Gasket
      Injector/Glow HarnessFORD UVC Injector & Glow Plug Harness 7.3L 94.5-97 OBS - F4TZ9D930K
Tranny CoolerFORD GENUINE OEM 26 ROW TRANSMISSION COOLER - 5C3Z7A095CA
      Hydra Chip Tuner

      Thanks,
      Kevin

      Hey guys,

I have a 1995 F350 with an automatic transmission. I purchased a 6.0 transmission cooler (FORD GENUINE OEM 26 ROW TRANSMISSION COOLER - 5C3Z7A095CA) with the adapters to hook it up to the 7.3 tranny. Online it says I need about 15L of fluid. When I drain it will the torque convertor empty? Do I need additional fluid for the bigger cooler? The fluid here is stupid expensive now so I just want to make sure I pickup the right amount for the job. Any recommendations for fluid type/brand?

Also what recommendation do you guys have for fluid type/brand for the rear end.

      Thanks,
      Kevin

Never have done any heavy towing with a 7.3 and i dont want to kill the transmission. Do i need to tow with the overdrive off or can i just leave it in drive and let it do its own thing? Or? I am use to towing with a 6.0 and just letting it do its thing in tow/haul but those transmissions are much tougher. Thanks in advance for any advice.
The 5R110 transmission is much tougher because Ford put a significantly larger trans cooler and better torque converter in them. If you are driving up n down hills in a predominantly 55mph speed limit, then turn off the OD. But if you are driving on flat highway and interstate, then leave the OD turned on.

I wouldn't use the radiator cooler. They tend to fail and put coolant in your transmission. I'm dealing with this with my son's truck. ;)

The stock 6.0 trans cooler nearly is a direct bolt in, and I have those in stock.

If you want it to last, keep it stock. Any chip will kill the E4OD transmission unless upgraded (assuming it's an automatic?)

I'm curious if the same Caveat is true for the '02 4R100 in the Excursions?

I bought the PHP Hydra, but have not got it installed.
My only interest is as a Daily Driver, with just a bit more MPG, and some extra oomph uphill while towing my 9,000 lb RV
The biggest killer of the E4OD and 4R100 is the way undersized transmission coolers. E4OD is even significantly smaller than the 4R100. The E4OD also only had a single disk converter. It wasn't until the later years of the 4R they went to a multi-disk.

A good tune will add line pressure to help hold the clutches better from slipping, causing heat.

Having a gauge or monitor is best when adding a tuner so you can keep an eye on your transmission temps.

That is one of the best mods I did. Significantly dropped trans temps.

      thank you Corey,
I just now turned in an order to you for that cooler and Referenced your Post.

I was really a bit concerned when I saw how small that little dinky tranny cooler is now.

I have everything in stock what you are looking for. As far as your local builder, he should know what converter to use for you application and should have access to buy it. I would have him install a larger cooler vs back flushing a really old and very small factory cooler.

FORD OEM 26 ROW TRANSMISSION COOLER - 5C3Z7A095CA This is actually a direct bolt in, but there is a very slight modification to do on the hose routing.

If he doesn't find a decent converter, then we have this option.
