These 3 are the main things to start with on the engine.

And an exhaust. We normally recommend MBRP due to the amount I've installed. Diamond eye is cheaper, but I've ran into more fitment issues with them compared to MBRP. I didn't dive a link to a particular exhaust because there are so many options.

If you plan on doing a fair amount of traveling, I'd also recommend these 2 things.

I would do the normal basic mods. Tuner, intake, exhaust, monitor.

There are lots of choices for exhaust, but if you live in the northern states, then go with stainless steel.

If you don't want to do the exhaust, then we have this option for a turbo upgrade.

      Or this kit

I’ve seen this numerous times….anything you suggest getting with the chip? Gauges? Should the stock components hold up well with the hydra?
What they said about the gauges. I typically recommend the Insight CTS3 monitor as quality gauges have gone up significantly in price. The monitor will do way more than the 3 popular gauges and read/clear engine codes.

The very first thing you need to do is get a monitor and learn the numbers. As far as bulletproofing goes, I now think (after the fact for me...lol) it's probably better to wait until a problem(s) materialize before spending those bucks, but if you have the money available and plan to keep the truck, it's your call. Your monitor will also help you in making this decision. As far as tuning goes, a properly tuned 6.0 is a wonder to behold and well worth the investment.
      1000% agree^^^^^

Most people go with the EDGE CTS3 monitor with EGT probe, and a SCT X4 programmer. Just run the truck on the mild tune. Here's a few links if you're interested.

      And here's the programmer.
