Is that pretty simple to do? Can you explain how you did it or point me to a resource that you used to wire the up? Thank you!!
No real plans or anything. I'm a ME with a EE skill set so I just came up with it my head first. Lol. But here is what I did:
Picked up the following stuff from the Amazon express- 7 way harness with terminal box and a pair of cheap magnets.

Then I detached the existing trailer 4 way wiring from its mounts all the way to the underside of the trailer. I ran the new 7 way from the coupler (leaving slack to connect to the truck) in the same route the 4 way ran. Then mounted the new 7 way box underneath the trailer near where the existing 4 way wiring came together. The existing wires were cut, stripped and terminated in the new junction box at the specified terminals. I stopped there to make sure all the existing lights worked.
So for the magnets.... I used a silicone adhesive and mounted the magnets right on the frame rail near the junction box. Essentially glued them to the frame. Lol. The leads were wired in parallel (+ leads together and - leads together) to the brake terminal in the junction box and the ground. When I use the brakes, it energizes the magnets. Obviously nothing happens. I believe the truck just sees the resistance of the magnets and that triggers it to turn off the back up warning. It also increases the bump turn signal by 2 extra flashes.
Hope that all made sense. The other cool thing is that it made it easy to add reverse lights to the trailer. Makes it easier to back up the driveway at night.
