Help me convince my dad my truck needs a tune

Im in high school and recently deleted and straight piped my truck I have a 6.0 and it was also bulletproofed when I bought it. It came with an ancient bully dog tuner and During one of the many times I was switching between tow tune and performance the tuner for some reason put the 6.4 performance tune on it instead of the 6.0 tune and ever since then my dad hasn’t let me switch the tune he thinks no matter what i do to the truck its going to blow up. I was going to get a mild quick tricks tune that was meant for straight piped and deleted trucks but I need more points to bring up in the discussion thanks for any help 🙏🏻

If the anything happens to the truck, who pays for it? These trucks can costs thousands of dollars to fix. Do you really have $6k cash to do a head gasket job? If you can afford, than you got a leg to stand on, but wobbly. Even if you could afford it, that money would be much better spent elsewhere.

With a 6.0 no head studs = no tune but factory, until you save up enough to properly bulletproof it or get something else.

Help me convince my dad my truck needs a tune

Yeah by the sounds of things, I’d just leave it stock, leave that bully dog out of it too. And during the “many times” you’ve been swapping between the performance and tow tunes all you’ve been doing is confusing the tranny. Makes for one unhappy 5R110, and in the end could cost you (or your dad) a transmission as well. Not to mention the trans tuning on those devices isn’t good to begin with.

If you have a butt load of money laying around "Go for it" because you will blow it up. Treat it like it's the first and last truck you will own. You obviously don't care about paying for anything if you want to go out and race the truck around, that is the problem today, kids do appreciate what they have.

I honestly want the best for the truck and talking to some family friends and they were saying I should get a tune for it due to the fact that I changed the way the engine was working. I was looking at the 50hp tow tune because I do plan on doing some towing. Would a small tune like that still be a bad idea it is head studded. Ive been doing my research on what would be best and have seen plenty of good things about Vivians tunes.

Everything on this truck I am paying for and if something were to happen I have enough money to spare. Im not looking to make it a race truck but I want it to run well with the modifications I have done.

I'm not a mechanic, but I would say that you don't want to run your truck with the wrong tune, the way it is now. So, tell him that your truck is screwed up now and you need to get it right with the new tune. Then you are your going to leave it alone. Good luck.

Then I was wrong about you then, most kids don't pay for stuff. Glad you have different priorities, but I'd take it easy on a tune.
