27. Small farm in York PA. Lease the land to a local farmer just to pay the taxes. All the little curt of the land. None of the hassle.

I'm in the same boat in the same ocean as you ChrisSki. I do own an acre of raw land in New River. I want to get farther out of the desert and off grid also, but still a slave to the grind

40 Acres here on the banks of the Cumberland river. My litmus test for purchasing a house is the following:

If I can run around my house butt naked and not offend anyone, its a good place to live. And trust me, I am pretty offensive! LOL

10 ares for us right now but short story missing some details of course:

I was mowing the lawn in my underwear because it was hot and there is no one close enough until this gentlemen started walking through the field towards me. I thought very odd. I live in a very Vanilla area plain and simple and this Asian fella was working his way towards me. Figuring I had more time I did a couple more laps and before I know it he was leaning on the fence waiving. (At his point I figured it was pointless to drive away or change lol so I drove up to him).

Without skipping a beat he said "Hi, Im Tom, my tractor is stuck, think you can help me?" Sure I said let me get my stuff and I'll follow you down the driveway....

He had a small John deere buried in mud with a mower deck I just yanked him out and he ended up being retired Air Force so we chatted for a few. He never once mentioned I was in my underwear and flipflops on a riding mower lol.

A little off topic but I love my privacy too.

There is few acres next to my spread in Montana once I get out there I'm going to play Command and Conquer and fence in to acquire through adverse possession. It's useless to build on one side my property good though good for animals and on another side I just want a setback from the ridge that is mine.

If you had a road guard vest and pink tutu on I bet he would have questioned your sanity. LOL

That's what I'm screamin'! The wife says it's not so much me going outside naked to pee that bothers her but waving at the occasional car that drives by while I'm peeing does. LOL!

We own about 30 acres which butts up up my grandmother's farm which is about 50 acres. In turn, our places join together with other family land so all-in-all prolly a few hundred acres to roam around on as I please. Closest town is about 10 miles away. Closest mart-of-WAL is about 15 miles away so yeah - we're out in the middle of nowhere...and I like it!

I'm with you brother! I forgot to add the min distance from wallyworld. A min of 20 miles but a local, independently owned grocery is nice to have.
