Oil filter housing would be fine -- I am thinking you have no or low oil pressure
not good for the crank bearings for sure
Really -- oil pressure and fuel pressure should be required add-on gauges for these trucks
Think Dash Boss is apple compatible

Should I be checking the oil pressure at the HPOP reservoir or is the oil filter housing just as accurate?

At that point you should look into the reservoir again to see if it is filled or not
What does your monitor system tell you? -- Don't have one? -- Forscan or Torque Pro work well for monitoring the system and pulling codes
A gauge on that engine oil pressure is the only way to know if you have it or not -- gauge and hose are cheap for testing, zip tie to the wiper arm
like $20 for the cheap kit -- need an adapter for the engine tho - 11x 1.25 metric

|snyda88||I went to fire it up this morning and the even though the reservoir was full it started and then stalled. Primed the reservoir again and goosed the pedal once it started and it ran fine all the way to work, 45 minutes for a 30 mile commute on the highway. Once I got to work I shut it off and then went to try to start it again to check and it started and then stalled again. I’m kind of back to square one here. I think I might be pulling the pan and checking the pickup tube this week because I’m reading other posts where people say that even with a low reservoir it shouldn’t matter so long as I have good EOP while cranking because it will fill up the reservoir while cranking. I have a new IPR but have not installed it because I’m not convinced that’s the issue since the whole HPOP system worked fine before I started this project. Am I flawed in my logic??|

|snyda88||Well, pulled the HPOP and checked the mating gasket, cleaned it and put it back together. Along with making sure the HPOP reservoir gasket properly seated and primed it and fired it up and let her run for about 20 minutes. Shut it off let it sit for 10 minutes and checked to find the reservoir was still sitting at the same level (3/4” below port). It’s now been over 2 hours since I started the truck and the reservoir is still right where it was after I shut the truck off. Fingers crossed it’s still there in the AM. I did have a long crank the last two times I started it but I attribute that to me pulling the HPOP off along with the oil lines and there being air in the system still.|

|snyda88||So I’ve pulled the reservoir and found that the oil has drained down to this port on the bottom of the reservoir/top of timing cover. Could the HPOP mounting gasket be to blame here? I’m at a loss of how it’s draining out.|

I have a hard time believing it’s the low pressure oil system. But who knows.
