Lt.Dan I've had good luck with XRF ball joints after reading lots of good reviews. I replaced my tie rods last year with Motorcraft new-old stock and they were toasted by this year. I run 33" all terrain tires on 20" OEM rims (2"spacers) on 100% pavement (though often city streets these days so basically offroading). Still no issues with the XRF joints after 2 years so went with XRF tie rods too this time

I have done them a few times. 2 times on the 06. The 06 bj's went 80,000 before 2 were shot. one low and one high on opposite sides. I bought the $50.00 tool kit off ebay and it works great, just put some antiseize on the c-clamp threads. The moogs went 100,000 miles before one had a hair bit of slack and I replaced all 4. 85,000 more miles and one had a hair bit of slack so I did all 4. My 02 already had the bj's replaced(all 4 had grease fittings) when I bought it used with 86,000 miles. At about 140,000 one was really loose and I replaced all 4. In the 70's and 80's I worked as a mechanic. Bj's on cars usually lasted 60,000 - 80,000 miles. When people did an oil change they also got a front end grease job and diff oil and man trans oil checked. Big tires put additional side leverage on ball joints. Off roading on rough areas kills front end joints. Stuff wears out.

You are correct, the inexpensive ball joints for these trucks will not last especially with larger tires.

doubleslottedflaps If you drive on rough roads and streets like in Jackson Mississippi nothing is going to last. The ball joints on our truck are way too small and will wear out sooner. And you have to grease them every oil change. If you want a front end that will last get an old king pin type.

I USED MOOG PARTS MANY YEARS AGO WHEN THEY WERE MADE OF GOOD QUALITY MATERIALS.....

I HAVE HEARD THE STORIES OF THE PROBLEMS WITH TODAY'S MOOG PARTS.....

WHAT I CAN TELL YOU IS THIS.....I HAD A GUY WHO HAD HIS FRONT END RE-DONE WITH MOOG PARTS AND HE SAID THAT HE HAS TO HAVE THE FRONT END RE-DONE EVERY TWO YEARS.....HE HAS 114,000 MILES ON HIS TRUCK.....HE IS THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND THE ONLY DRIVER OF HIS TRUCK.....

I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU.....BUT I DON'T WANT TO PULL APART THE FRONT END OF ANY VEHICLE I OWN EVERY TWO YEARS.....

Nickjames525 As a technician who works on a high volume of stuff, I can tell you that I see more failed moog parts than any other parts.. ESPECIALLY u joints. Use oem front end parts and spicer u joints ONLY.

I’m just the tech. I make no money on parts. However, I will NOT install any aftermarket OE front end parts.

SparkyF250 Like I said, I did the front end of my 05 with Moog and everything fit perfect and works the same. I use Moog u-joints too

They were correct, I doubled checked part numbers. The track bar was only about 1/8Ē longer than my stock one, but it was enough to make it not fit
