Gone_Platinum I've been having that issue on my 16. If I push the e brake and release it quickly it works. Trying to figure what there is that it's tied into. Brake switch, harness connector, etc....

nycpsd Most likely your camera harness not the camera itself. There is a bare wire in the harness covered in shielding that corrodes. But corrosion doesn’t show up in the connectors. Just tore apart the tailgate harness unpinned the two splices that connect to the bare wire portion and moved over the extra blunt terminated wires in the harness and replaced the length of wire with insulated wire. Then rewrapped those wires in aluminum hvac duct tape for shielding and reinstalled works good as new.

johndeeregreen I didn't think it was needed either but according to stealerships it does.... calling it programming sounds so much more professional to justify the charging of 110$ than calibration

Larry1013 I do not think it really needs programmed. I know I bought a second Ford cam that I was going to use to to make an aux I could plug into the connector beside the spare tire for hooking up my 5th wheel. I could switch between the tailgate camera and this aux camera via a cable I made by splicing in a longer section of wire in a tailgate harness. Both worked fine with no programming.

I know when I bought my aux camera from Ford, it was like $100 back in 2015/2016 time frame.

I added a 3rd brake light camera kit recently. I can switch between it and the tailgate camera and there was no programming required.

I might be wrong.....there might need to be a calibration...have not clue what the calibration does.

johndeeregreen Larry, I forgot to say it is the camera in the emblem. The camera part number you gave is the right one as the dealer gave me that, but wanted 400$ just for camera. Apparently it does have to be programmed according to all 3 dealers I spoke to and prices ranged fro 100$ to 146$ for install and programming. I searched the internet and could not find any oem cameras that were compatible. I had already ordered the camera and install before I saw your post. Thanks for responding.

Larry1013 There should be no programming to replace the camera. Not aware of any replacement camera that will substitute for the Ford camera. You might can replace it yourself if you are handy with a few tools and have start bits.

Have you tried unplugging, spraying the camera harness connector near the spraying it with WD40?

Here are the part numbers if you want to replace it yourself. You can print them out and your local Ford parts might sell you the parts at these prices.

Sometimes the pins break on the script and needs to be replaced. The Ford script is CL3Z-9942528-B

The bezel/housing usually can be reused and if careful you can pop off the script. The bezel/housing is AL3Z-19H511-A

Camera part number has changed a few times over the years. The current one is GC3Z-19G490-B

The tailgate harness is part number FC3Z-14A412-A

rear camera

New to the forum so here goes......i have a 2015 f250 and rear camera quit working. I researched trying to find replacement but to no avail. I call and dealership quoted 400$ for camera 40$ for emblem if needed and an hour for programming (about an hour at 90$). Before taking it in , does anyone have any suggestions as to possible causes for failure of camera? I have tried just about everything like fuses, connections etc. Also does it really take an hour to program??
